Julie Morgan AM for Cardiff North would like to congratulate Hannah Mills, Owain Doull and Les MacNeil who have made the New Year's Honours List.
Sailor, Hannah Mills was awarded an MBE by the Queen after winning a gold medal in the Rio Olympics last year. This came in the wake of winning a silver medal in the London Olympics four years earlier.
Cyclist, Owain Doull was also awarded an MBE after becoming the first Welsh-speaking athlete to win an Olympic gold. This came in the team pursuit in the Rio Olympics last year.
Les MacNeil, a mother of two who lives in Rhiwbina, is the project manager of the Royal Voluntary Service's (RVC) trolley shop at the University Hospital Wales (UHW). She has been active in this role for nearly 30 years and this involves visiting patients on the wards, selling magazines, snacks, drinks and in-hospital “essentials”.
For this committed, lifetime work, she has been awarded a British Empire Medal, which is awarded for exceptional 'hands-on' service to the local community.
Julie Morgan said 'It is great to see people that live or have trained in Cardiff North being honoured for their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to them all'.
