Priorities for Cardiff North in the Fifth Assembly

Julie Morgan was elected as AM for Cardiff North in the Welsh Assembly elections in May 2016

Message from Julie: It is now 18 years since I was first elected to represent you and it has been a great privilege to spend 13 years working as your MP and the last 5 years working as your Assembly Member. I have enjoyed campaigning with the people who elected me and, together, we have done a great deal to achieve the best school standards, effective public transport and a high-quality environment in our area.

In relation to healthcare in particular, here in Cardiff North we are very lucky to have secured huge investment in excellent facilities in recent years. The £75 million Children's Hospital for Wales on the University Hospital of Wales site in Heath has now been completed and over the next few years we will see the results of a £220 million investment in the new Velindre Cancer Centre, which will provide world-class cancer services. I care deeply about ensuring that people of all ages are able to enjoy the best health possible so I am also very proud that I was responsible for the introduction of a national law to prevent young people under the age of 18 from using sunbeds.

'Cardiff North has changed a lot but my principles have not' - Julie Morgan AM

It has been a busy 18 years! But there is still a lot more to do and that is why I stood for election again in the Welsh Assembly elections on 5th May 2016. Cardiff North has changed a lot but my principles and priorities have not – I am as committed to the goal of representing all the people of Cardiff North and improving their quality of life as I was back in 1997.

I will continue to press for high-quality housing and a wide range of well-paid jobs in thriving businesses, as well as quality apprenticeships and other training opportunities.

I have already met and assisted thousands of the incredible people who live in Cardiff North during my advice surgeries and the community campaigns I have been involved with. I look forward to meeting many more of you in the coming Fifth Assembly term.

I hold regular drop-in surgeries on Mondays in Llanishen and Fridays in Whitchurch and am always happy to meet visiting constituents and school parties at the Senedd (contact me to arrange a visit).

Above all, I am determined to carry on doing my best for you.

Best wishes,

Julie Morgan, AM for Cardiff North
